Increasing recruiter efficiency to hire globally

To support their dynamic business, Trimble is actively working to fill positions, often for highly technical roles with specific skill sets. “Hiring is extremely important because we’re a market-focused technology company, so it’s critical for us to hire the best and most qualified talent,” says Joe Shilkrot, Talent Acquisition Manager, North America at Trimble.

Trimble began using Hire in mid-2018 and their global business was fully running on the system within a couple of months. “Partnering with Google and implementing Hire was an ideal solution for us,” notes Joe. “It’s been a smooth implementation.”

Increasing recruiter capacity through a smart, intuitive system

With Hire, Trimble has been able to move faster and communicate better. “Hire is very intuitive. It allows our Talent Acquisition team to smoothly go from position to position and communicate with Hiring Managers through the system,” says Joe.

Hire’s intuitiveness is the result of a strong foundation of Google’s Machine Learning technology, which provides robust functionality in a clean, easy-to-use format. “With the ability to parse resumes, auto-suggest candidates, schedule interviews with ease and more, Hire enables our Talent Acquisition team to increase the number of requisitions they’re working on because they can move more quickly through the system,” notes Joe. “Because the system is so intuitive, it allows us to better support our Talent Acquisition team and increase our team’s efficiency.”

Discovering the right candidates with ML-powered search

In addition to time savings for the team, Trimble has also leveraged Hire’s Machine Learning capabilities to more effectively engage, or re-engage, the best candidates for every role. “As we utilize the tool, the database that we’re searching in becomes more robust and Hire acts as a built-in CRM tool to search through our database of candidates or silver medalists that didn’t get the job initially,” says Joe.

This advanced search functionality has enabled Trimble to better parse candidates within their existing database. “Since these candidates have often already been through the hiring process and have already shown interest in Trimble, this functionality allows us to re-engage previous applicants. We can more effectively find other opportunities for qualified candidates, even amidst an increasingly competitive market for skilled talent,” explains Joe. “The ability to go into an intuitive system and sift through candidates who already know who we are enables our sourcing team to have a much more confident and employer-branded approach to reaching out to candidates.”

Along with this silver medalist engagement, Trimble has also seen an increase in the number of applicants since moving to Hire. “Ultimately, the number one most important thing that an applicant tracking system can provide us with is candidates,” says Joe. “Having a larger number of applicants applying to our positions not only helps our employer brand but also increases our chances of identifying and hiring a strong candidate.”

Engaging hiring managers in global recruiting

With a distributed team, it’s important to Trimble to keep their team on the same page and enable fluid collaboration across their global offices. Since implementing Hire, Trimble has seen a significant improvement in the hiring manager experience, which has led to increased communication across hiring teams.

“Hiring managers today are more engaged in the applicant process and in the life cycle of their positions. They have the ability to easily go in and leave feedback, @mention recruiters, and change their interview teams,” comments Joe. “Hire makes it much easier for hiring managers to get more engaged in the hiring process, and it’s enabling us to work better together.”

We have experienced increased collaboration between our Talent Acquisition teams globally and we expect this to continue as we scale.
